The morning started with a down pour of rain but the multiple award winning Hayling’s BEST ‘Playing on the Plaza’ team, continued their successful run of Sunday afternoon free music events at Eastoke Corner on Sunday with a performance by Hayling’s very own Jennifer Ellen and her band.

Sponsored by the Mengham based Hayling Island Bookshop, Hayling girl Jennifer who lists among her influences, Ben Harper, Radiohead, Snow Patrol, Biffy Clyro, Reuben, Turin Brakes, Willy Mason, Jack Johnson, Alanis Morissette, The Kooks, Bob Dylan, Martha Wainwright, and The Cranberries, played a mostly acoustic set with a mixture of original songs and covers versions, both new and old that will appeal to all ages.
On stage at Eastoke Corner’s ‘Liveability Plaza’, her wonderful voice was supported by fellow local musicians guitarist Rowan Gifford, guitarist for ‘The ‘Rrr's’, Ivan Dobsky, and bassist for Coventry based jazz band, ‘Jaffa Rose’, and bassist Chris Telford who has worked as session bassist with ‘The Thimble Collectors’ and Jonny Mernagh.

Interval entertainment was provided by those veterans of seaside entertainment ‘Punch and Judy’. Although we trust that for once Mr Punch will be on his best behaviour, as he has already been warned by concert organisers that any ASBO behaviour on his part, will see him promptly committed to Eastoke Corner’s recently reinstalled Medieval Stocks.
