25th May 2008
The skys cleared and once again the sun shone down upon Hayling.

The 25th saw the Playing on the Plaza team put on the second free music event at Eastoke Corners livabilty plaza.
A set from talented 16 year old singer/musician Jack Cottle, student from Hayling College with a surprisingly eclectic choice of musical influences, ranging from Billy Joel to The Beatles and Elton John, though to Kirsty McColl and the Pogues.
Jack recently turned in a stunning performance at the Kings Theatre Southsea, performing a selection of Billy Joel numbers to an appreciative audience, at a charity concert in aid the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth’s Charity Fund.
The interval segue was provided by Hayling’s very own ‘Evolution Twirlers’, a junior majorette group trained by Islander Mandy Ibbs, and once part of the highly successful ‘Topaz Twirlstars’.
This new team formed as recently as March this year, are now set to compete in the British Isles Baton Twirlers Association Team Championships in May, as well as the UK Federation of Majorettes Solo Selections in September, while still keeping the 2012 Olympics firmly in their sights! This was there first public performance, didnt they do well.
Below is a slide show of the days events.

Sadly Scottish songstress Leona Kelly had to pull out at the last minute due to illness but luckliy our very own Jack Cottle stepped up and took the second half to woo the crowds with more of his talent on the keyboard.
Park Dean our sponsors for this event sent their little friends ‘The Mugals’ along to join in the fun, to entertain children with the magical adventures of Maxi Million. A young and playful adventurer who gets up to all sorts of action and fun, and his friends Milli and Multi, who we are told is part robot part Mugul!
